Dr. Deborah A. Rich
Dr. Rich is a fully licensed psychologist practicing for almost 20 years with a specialization in the field of neuropsychology. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Her pre-doctoral internship was in Neuropsychology for both children and adults. Dr. Rich has an excellent reputation teaching graduate and undergraduate students, psychology interns, medical students and residents at local universities and colleges for over ten years in psychological and neuropsychological assessment.
Dr. Rich has maintained a private practice as a neuropsychologist offering treatment and diagnosis for all ages, although specializing in children and adolescents. More recently she has provided consult services for an alternative high school in the area, identifying and providing treatment services for children “at risk”. Highly published in peer reviewed journals Dr. Rich has presented research at regional and national conferences. On staff at UPS, Dr. Rich provides neuropsychological assessment, diagnostic and treatment services for all ages ranges with a specialization in pediatrics.
Dr. Carl Eric Alsterberg
Dr. Alsterberg, a fully licensed psychologist, has been in practice for 25 years. He has specialized in working with the aged population, promoting the concept of graceful aging from a spiritual perspective, and providing emotional relief for both the patient and their families. Dr. Alsterberg has been a tremendous help to patients in nursing homes understanding the process of dementia from both a psychological as well as spiritual point of view. He also specializes in working with families who are divorced or in process of divorce, providing parenting plans and custody evaluations for the courts, and is highly skilled in working with parents in conflict helping them to work towards the best case scenario for their children.
Dr. Alsterberg has a wealth of experience as a director of clinical services with expertise in chemical dependency and substance abuse. He is dedicated to living life gracefully and with ease, keeping the larger perspective in mind, espousing the view that every day we are provided with a new opportunity for a learning adventure. On staff at UPS, Dr. Alsterberg provides consult and therapeutic intervention for parents and children, (custody evaluations and parenting plans) diagnosis and treatment for dementia, and consult services for patients undergoing or recovering from major surgeries or life threatening illness.
Dr. Jennifer Belt
Dr. Belt received her Bachelor’s degree in Family Community Services from Michigan State University. She received a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology located in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Belt has trained in a number of settings including hospitals, schools, outpatient clinics, and private practice. Treatments include child, adolescent, adult, and family psychotherapy. Dr. Belt has received extensive training in both Cognitive-Behavioral and Adlerian approaches to psychotherapy.
Areas of clinical expertise include Academic Underachievement, Adjustment Disorders, Anger Management, Anxiety (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Phobias, etc.), Attachment Disorders, ADHD, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Conduct Disorder, Depression (Major Depression, Post-Partum Depression, etc.), Divorce Reaction, Grief/Loss, Oppositional Defiant, Parenting Support/Guidance, School Refusal, and Sleep Disturbance.
Rene M. Nota
Rene Nota is a Limited Licensed Psychologist involved with our Interactive Metronome (IM) program. As a therapist and school psychologist she has extensive
experience, education and practical knowledge in the field of psychology. She holds Master’s Degrees in both School and Community Psychology and Human Development from Wayne State University as well as a Graduate Certificate in Infant Mental Health.
Mrs. Nota is a practicing school psychologist in the area, providing comprehensive psychological services to middle and high school students as part of a multidisciplinary team. She utilizes a wide variety of evaluation procedures that measure cognitive achievement and social-emotional abilities.
Her professional experience also includes general therapy in private practice and as a provider of in-home services as a Mental Health Specialist to infants and families for mental health assessment and intervention including infants and toddlers with identified disabilities, developmental delays and at-risk conditions.
Amy L. Chmielinski
Mrs. Chmielinski has joined United Psychological Services as a Licensed Master’s Level Professional Counselor. Her education and wide range of experience in counseling both adults and children particularly in the areas of family crisis intervention, career counseling, and youth advocacy are a complement to our experienced
staff.
Mrs. Chmielinski has worked within the family court system to assist troubled youth and their families to facilitate positive change through goal setting with a strong emphasis on parent education.
In addition, Mrs. Chmielinski has provided counseling on the college level, acting as facilitator and counselor to students in career skills. She also provided general counseling assistance to students seeking help with personal growth issues and the stresses encountered in the college setting, developing treatment plans that assisted the student in goal setting and reaching objectives.
Mrs. Chmielinski is involved with the administration of our Brain Training Program in addition to her contributions as a therapist in our group.
